Dear Bay Park Families,

As you know, Bay Park Elementary and all schools in the San Diego Unified School District will be closed due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) from March 16 to April 6. As of today, students will return to school on April 6.

Teachers have been asked to send home independent reading books, journals and some textbooks for students to utilize at home for enrichment. The San Diego Unified School District will post curriculum for students on the district website beginning on Monday. Again, this is for enrichment purposes, student work will not be graded or collected when students return to school.

During the closure, the school district is setting up ‘grab and go’ lunch stations for all students in the district. The lunch will include food for lunch and breakfast for the next day. No proof that children are enrolled in the district will be needed. Schools that will be ‘food stations’ are: Cherokee Point, Sherman, Zamorano, Farb, Kearny, Clark Middle, Walker and O’Farrell.

The district is currently working with partners to help families with childcare during this school closure. All after school classes and the YMCA Character Builders before and after school program at Bay Park will be closed until the school reopens.

I urge all of our Bay Park families to frequently check the San Diego Unified School District’s website for updates. The superintendent will also send updates via School Messenger.
